Analysis of a restaurant review
I visited the written restaurant review which is; Patois: How Toronto’s unique fusion cuisine is going international
The opinion of the reviewer is reflected in the title of the review. The title is How Toronto’s unique fusion cuisine is going international. It talks about the restaurant called Patios. The chef is called Craig Wong. She says Wong’s style of cuisine is being noticed on the international stage. The description of the surroundings is a Jamaican beach house setting. The chef serves oxtail, potstickers and jerk chiken chow mein. There are no specific menu names in the review.
The reviewer talks about chef Craig Wong’s background. Craig Wong is Jamaican-Chinese and lives with his parents who landed in Scarborough after three generations in the Caribbean. His background may be related to the opening of the restaurant Patois. Their plan for the future is to prove that Toronto’s unique immigrant fusion food is a style with global appeal.
I think the readers would be educated and you have to be able to understand some words related to fusion cuisines. For example, there is a fusion cuisine restaurant introduced which is called “new-Asian kitchens,” in New York. I think the socioeconomic would be quite high because the cuisine is explained as high-end fusion cuisine. Also, it doesn’t include a convenient grid. In fact, it doesn’t include any information about the price range of menu items, wheelchair accessibilities and the location explained is very vague. I think the restaurant is in Toronto, Canada.
I learned that the reviewer values the restaurant's success because it is a unique style and it is very international having a fusion of Jamaican cuisine and Chinese cuisine. However, it was difficult for me to find out about what the restaurant serves and the atmosphere of the restaurant.
The video restaurant review we looked at is; Turtle Tower Restaurant: Check, Please! Bay Area review
This video focused on how the pho tastes at the Turtle Tower Restaurant. In the video, there were four people in the video and two of them disliked the pho and one liked the pho and the other was in a neutral position. In the end, the woman who didn’t like the pho said she liked the shrimp spring rolls on the menu. Therefore, the review may be in a neutral position.
The chefs, owners, managers were featured in the videos and I think this was helpful for us to know about the restaurant. They provided us basic information about what they are doing at their restaurant and the history of the dish they serve.
Two people who indicated they didn't like Pho didn't know what it was. One of them mentioned she enjoyed pho, but the one she ate didn't match her preferences, which doesn't count in terms of reviews. The other was talking nonsense, as he had no idea what Vietnamese dishes were.
One of the people on the video seemed to appreciate the restaurant's cuisine, and I could tell by the tone of his voice, which was really pleasant. The tone of those who disliked the dishes made it easy to understand why they didn't enjoy them. The voices of the speaker changes whether they like it or not.
In conclusion, I thought there are lots of different kinds of restaurant reviews. I thought there were templates and there was an answer to a persuasive restaurant review. However, I thought it depended and it is different since the purpose for writing restaurant reviews differ.
